When recording sessions are winding down, Matthew checks in to see if there’s anything else that I’d like to sing, express, or do—since the equipment and gear are already setup. Here’s something from this past Sunday. Download it for free here.

“Where words fail, music speaks.” - Hans Christian Anderson

We’re midway through re-recording Familiar Strangers, an original tune of mine. Guitar leads/lead and background vocals will be going in over the course of the next couple of weeks. Mixing will happen shortly thereafter.

Good times.

Hello!

Caught your recent story on CNN - good stuff!

Wondering what studio equipment you use? — Asked by Anonymous

Hello! I’ve done all of my recording at my friend’s home studio. Matt is pretty adept with Cubase. We run through an Orpheus interface that’s connected to a PC. We mostly use a Telefunken R-F-T AK-47 MkII for vocals, and for instruments, he has an array of different microphones for different tasks. I just recently sold my car to buy a Bricasti M7 for his studio, which we’re currently using as our main reverb unit.

Relaxing with work — Spent Sunday working on vocals & ideas for Coming Around. Coming Around is coming along.

Matt and I have been constantly working and getting closer to wrapping things up. Naturally, some sessions are sweeter than others. We recently had one of those days in the studio where everything was rolling along and the flow was so smooth and velvety that not even Wonka’s choco-river-of-Augustus-Gloop could compare. After 6 hours of mind bending and blood sucking work, we think we finally got it right. Take a listen.

I haven’t listened to it since yesterday, so I don’t know if it’s ass or not.

Matt just finished laying down the B3 and the piano on “Back to Begin.” Here’s a short video clip of the bridge into the guitar solo. Progress is slow, but it’s happenin’.
